Center Parcs Woburn Forest is a £250 million development and one of the largest leisure projects in the UK.
The DTE Ilkeston team was required to supply a massive 20,000 roof trusses for 625 forest lodges within a rapid build programme. The heavily wooded site made access difficult for lorries and cranes, so the team had to manufacture and deliver the roof trusses under strict guidance. This essentially meant planning much further in advance than normal, and also preparing additional packaging and lifting aids, to ensure the build process was as smooth as possible.
Successful supply was achieved by ensuring the manufacture was always at least a week ahead of the delivery schedule. Additional manpower was engaged to ensure the trusses were packaged in a sequence to suit the build program.
Jonathan Fellingham, managing director of DTE said: “The team at Ilkeston has managed the project extremely well – especially given the demanding nature of the job. A lot of valuable experience was gained from supplying such a large project in short timescales.”
"Donaldsons has proven to be a reliable supply partner. They planned and delivered a quality range of products; producing high volumes of trusses while responding to a very demanding delivery programme."
Tony Hutchison, commercial director of Kingspan Timber Solutions
"Donaldson's played a big part in helping Kingspan Timber Solutions deliver a successful scheme on time, and I look forward to working with them in the future.”
Woburn Forest is Center Parcs’ fifth holiday village in the UK, with opening planned for Spring 2014
